Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter
£45,000 - £50,000
Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter was established in 1896 and helps thousands of lost, unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned animals every year.
Our objective is the promotion of kindness and prevention of cruelty to animals.
We reunite lost animals with their owners and find loving new homes for those no longer wanted. Operating from two locations, we cover the whole of the North East from our two shelters within Newcastle at Claremont Road and Benton North Farm.
A new Chief Executive is sought to lead the organisation in meeting the current challenges presented by the Coronavirus pandemic, which has resulted in an increased demand for our rescue and rehoming services. At the same time, the pandemic has curtailed some of our fundraising programme.
Fortunately the charity is in a strong financial position due to the loyal support of the local community, which provides us with a strong foundation for the future.
We need a Chief executive who not only shares the passion for the welfare of the animals whose care is entrusted to us, but who also brings the commercial and entrepreneurial outlook that will deliver a sustainable mix of voluntary and traded income streams. We already do very well on both counts but responding to the challenges and opportunities that exist right now is a priority in order for us to be able to adapt.
You will have the opportunity of working with a hugely dedicated team and volunteers who make our work possible and are the reason why we enjoy a deserved reputation in the area.
