Advocacy Director
£50,000 - £55,000
Full-time, permanent
London N7 and hybrid working
For more than half a century, JCWI has been challenging policies that lead to discrimination, destitution and the denial of rights and we've consistently been one of the leading voices for a fairer, more just immigration system that works for everyone.
We've also been providing award-winning legal advice services to the people who need them most and helped tens of thousands of people secure their status, keep their families together and build a home among a supportive community.
Following a period of campaign successes and sustained organisational growth, which has seen income double over the past five years, we are now seeking to establish a new leadership team that will build on the solid foundation that has been achieved and enable us to embark upon the next phase in our development.
The Advocacy Director is one of four Deputy Directors of JCWI and the purpose of the role is to hold lead responsibility for the development of a powerful policy and campaign strategy that is aligned to JCWIs objectives. This will be delivered in collaboration with our partners, in a way that is effective in influencing political decision makers on immigration in the UK.
Together with the Advocacy Team, the Advocacy Director leads JCWIs policy, research and evidence-gathering, and campaigns work in alignment with partners, and ensures that this expertise influences political debates on immigration, migrant rights and racial justice.
The role supports a growing portfolio of work building coalitions and networks within and beyond the migrants justice movement, ensuring that JCWI is a generous partner to all actors including grassroots community groups, unions, faith groups and NGOs, actively working in solidarity to build power and influence where it is needed.
The Advocacy Director is a spokesperson for the organisation, representing JCWI and our values at public forums, in the media and within coalitions.
