Head of People and Culture
Saferworld
London, Old Street
£46,000 - £56,000
Full-time, permanent
Saferworld is an independent international organisation.
We believe in a world where everyone can lead peaceful, fulfilling lives, free from fear and insecurity. For 30 years we have worked to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives through our work in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The Head of People and Culture will provide leadership and oversight to the overall development and delivery of Saferworlds HR strategy. The position manages the provision of effective and professional human resource services and advice - including the design and implementation of HR policies, practices and strategic initiatives to ensure we recruit, retain and promote highly skilled and motivated people in every area of our work. A key element to the role will be the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse and committed group of senior managers and their teams: to encourage an organisational culture that supports effective behaviours and ways of working that demonstrate clear commitment to Saferworlds values, mission and vision. The Head is expected to contribute regularly to Saferworlds organisational learning and strategy development, be an active member of the organisational management group, and meet with the executive team monthly.
Saferworlds staff are at the heart of our work and their skills and expertise ensure we continue to function a leading conflict prevention and peacebuilding organisation. As we evolve and grow, we want to ensure our programmes, research and capacity interventions retain their quality, stay rooted in the voices of people living in conflict, and ensure our staff are motivated and challenged in their work.
The successful candidate will have significant proven experience at a senior level in the HR management sector preferably in an international NGO. S/he will have a track record of developing and delivering an HR people strategy and of advising HR managers and senior staff. The post-holder will have the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people, including across cultures and to lead and motivate a positive and inclusive team ethos.
How to apply
Candidates should submit a full curriculum vitae (including comprehensive details of key achievements and responsibilities) and a short covering letter, which fully addresses the competencies outlined in the job description and person specification.
